Console Table Custom Upcycled Furniture Option! Antique Vintage Washstand with drawers, Mahogany, Georgian/Regency era, 19th Century
£150.00
Sold Out
Beautiful desk, mahogany washstand or writing desk, I believe it is early 1800's. It could possibly even be from the George III era, just from a few searches I have done online (don't quote me on that!). Features tapered legs, two frieze drawers with brass ring pull style handles (these have been a later addition, as can be seen in the photos, as originally I believe they should have been wooden). Would make a great restoration project or upcycling project (I originally bought it with plans to install a counter top sink on it for my bathroom but have since bought a different sink). The two drawers have rounded bead moulding detail around the front edges, which originally was designed to protect the front finish of the drawers from getting scratched. The drawers also have dovetail joins.
The top of the desk features a gallery back, which is in a lovely curved decorative shape.
The fact that this desk dates back to the 1800's means that it has plenty of knocks and scratches to it, including a chip off one of the back legs, and some wear to the bottom of the other back leg where it has worn down unevenly, but overall the finish to the surface is still very shiny.
This charming desk is not in perfect condition, but due to its age I feel it has its own story to tell for its bumps and knocks, and even in its current state it would look fab in a hallway with a quirky lamp on it or some stacked vintage books for display.
~~ If you LOVE this desk but would prefer it to be painted and upcycled to your own requested colour choice, this is something i can offer at no extra cost, contact me if this is something that interests you! (bear in mind that extra time will be needed for me to transform this desk if you do require it to be upcycled) ~~
